Ismagulov ’13 receives 2018 SIA Distinguished Alumni Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State School of International Affairs presented 2013 alumnus Dalel Ismagulov with the inaugural SIA Distinguished Alumni Award at the Graduation Recognition Ceremony for the class of 2018, where Ismagulov delivered the keynote address.

The SIA Distinguished Alumni Award was created to honor the achievements of outstanding graduates of the School of International Affairs whose professional accomplishments exemplify the goals of the school and serve as an inspiration to current and future students.

Ismagulov, a career diplomat, is a first secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States of America. In this capacity, he is responsible for bilateral political cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States.

Prior to joining the embassy, he held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan (MFA). From 2013 to 2015, Ismagulov worked as chief of Latin America and the Caribbean Division at the Americas Department. Before working at the MFA, he was chief specialist-attorney at the Finance Department in the Akimat of the city of Semey (East Kazakhstan region).

In addition to his M.I.A. degree from Penn State, Ismagulov also attended the Kazakh State Law University and the Academy of Public Administration under the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
