Bangla is the official language of Bangladesh besides being spoken in West Bengal, India. After the contribution made by the Bangladesh UN Peacekeeping Force in the Sierra Leone Civil War under the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone, the government of Ahmad Tejan Kabbah declared Bangla an honorary official language in December 2002. The language hour will feature:
- 1st year SIA student, Suparna Dutta, will share her experiences speaking Bangla as a native speaker
- Narratives and short video clips depicting Bangla language connections in the global context will be presented
- Interactive group discussions to review and speak 100 core words in Bangla
