Roger Thurow to speak during SIA Foundations of Diplomacy class

Roger Thurow will speak during Ambassador Jett’s Foundations of Diplomacy and International Relations Theory class on Tuesday, September 20 from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in 114 Katz. Roger Thurow joined the Chicago Council on Global Affairs as senior fellow on global food and agriculture in January 2010 after three decades at The Wall Street Journal. For 20 years, he was a foreign correspondent based in Europe and Africa. He has written three books, ENOUGH: Why the World’s Poorest Starve in an Age of Plenty, The Last Hunger Season: A Year in an African Farm Community on the Brink of Change, and The First Thousand Days, which has just been published. He is an expert on agricultural development and hunger. He will speak about his most recent book, which is about the vital importance of proper nutrition and health care in the 1,000 days from the beginning of a woman’s pregnancy to her child’s second birthday. The talk, which is co-hosted with the College of Agricultural Sciences, is free and open to the public.
