Networking: Why and how?
Date & Time: October 20, 2015 | 12:45 AM – 12:45 AM
Location: 114 Katz
The art of developing and maintaining informal networks of professional contacts is widely acknowledged as a key career skill, and the use of your network to help identify leads and secure interviews is an important strategy in successful job searches. The challenge for those of you in the early stages of your professional life is getting that network started. This workshop will examine both the why and how of networking, and will seek to persuade you that you are already more networked than you might think. The larger challenge is nurturing those contacts, building on them, and in mobilizing them effectively when needed.
This workshop is (not coincidentally) timed prior to the SIA Career Exposure trip to Washington, which will include the SIA Alumni Reception. That will be a key networking opportunity.
