The Center for Global Studies and Penn State School of International Affairs present Global Perspectives on Civil Resistance: A critique of western perceptions of 'protest' and 'nonviolent activism' with special guest speaker Stellan Vinthagen. This event will take place on Thursday, September 16, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. (ET) in the Katz Auditorium and concurrently via Zoom. Vinthagen is the Endowed Chair in the Study of Nonviolent Direct Action and Civil Resistance, Professor of Sociology and Adjunct Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, and Director of the Resistance Studies Initiative. His latest book is A Theory of Nonviolent Action - How Civil Resistance Works.
