I pursued my undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Marketing Major) from the University of Ghana. Upon completion, I had the opportunity to be part of multifaceted teams in the corporate world that led to gaining insight on the impact of communications, sustainability and policy on businesses globally. Also, volunteering in a children’s organization - Ananse Reach Concept afforded me the opportunity to engage and collaborate with policymakers and key institutional stakeholders such as the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Health Service and also partner with global bodies such as UNICEF. These experiences led me to the decision to pursue a Master’s in International Affairs with the School of International Affairs (SIA) at Penn State University; an institution which is consistently ranked among the top one percent of the world’s universities.
I chose SIA over other elite institutions because of SIA’s track record of equipping students with the requisite skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world. I desire to be a future shaper and make an impact as a global leader and thus, I believe SIA presents a perfect launch pad for me to do so. SIA’s highly flexible curriculum is tailored to suit the needs of every student. This gives students the opportunity to build their own curriculum according to their interests and take up courses not only in SIA but across departments at Penn State. Additionally, my development as a student is not only limited to the curriculum but I am also presented with the opportunity to learn first-hand from a diverse group of individuals who are experts in their fields. The staff and faculty here deliver world-class services to us in every area. They begin and end the SIA journey with you, work tirelessly to provide every kind of support needed to ensure that our objectives for getting into the Master of International Affairs program are attained. SIA also provides hands on practical knowledge in every course and enormous career opportunities to kick start careers with little to no experience. In addition, SIA presents a close-knit family outlook where classmates, faculty and staff are there to make sure that every member succeeds.
