I grew up right outside of State College in Lewistown, PA. I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English Literary, Textual and Cultural Studies and a minor in Spanish from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, I worked for two years in hospitality while trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to do. When I found SIA, I realized it had everything I was looking for in a program, and now I’m a first-year MIA student with concentrations in International Public Policy and Security studies!
I chose SIA because in all my research of potential MA programs, only Penn State felt like the right fit. The ability to synthesize your own concentration, the chance to study abroad and the internship opportunities made me feel like I would have the best chance for success after graduation. The incomparable faculty and staff have already provided me opportunities that weren’t available at my undergraduate institution. So far, I’m loving my introductory class in diplomatic relations theory as well as getting to know the rest of my cohort. Outside of class, you can probably find me at a coffee shop reading or taking day trips with my husband and dog throughout Pennsylvania.
