Hello, I am Jasmine Green! I grew up in Hampton Roads, VA, years after my family and I moved to Prince Georges County, MD. I graduated from the University of Maryland with an undergraduate degree in Government and Politics in the spring of 2020. I became interested in international affairs when I was on a family vacation to the Caribbean and started talking to people on the ground about how the US affects other countries and their economy. I still keep in contact with the amazing people that took the time to speak to me. Those conversations and experiences made me realize that the world is bigger than the United States. From there I started reading and studying international affairs and became interested in human rights for women and children. SIA was a perfect fit for me to focus on these things and stay passionate about domestic and international human rights. I plan to pursue humanitarian intervention and human rights as my concentration and continue my research and work in this field.
So far, my favorite part of the program is the ability to work with my classmates. We are in unprecedented times, so we understand that staying a community and working together to be there for each other is essential. Many of my peers are there to help, hang out, listen, and give advice. My favorite things to do in my free time are reading, watch television, and hanging out with my friends and family. I also enjoy traveling and adventures and trying things! I look forward to creating more relationships with my classmates and the classes after me. I plan to contribute to the SIA community, and show pride for Penn State School of International Affairs!
