Admitted Students Day

Join Us at SIA for Our Open House!

Congratulations on your admission to Penn State SIA! Why should you attend the Admitted Student Open House? Check out the top five reasons:

  1. To meet your future classmates;
  2. attend a class taught by our core faculty;
  3. tour our state-of-the-art Lewis Katz Building;
  4. see the beautiful University Park campus; and
  5. meet current students and faculty and hear what they love about SIA.

For the class of 2021, we will be holding our Open House for Admitted Students from Sunday, April 7, to Tuesday, April 9.

Registration for the Admitted Student Open House is now closed.  If you would like to attend, please email to make arrangements.

You do not need to contact the hotel to book a room; we will take care of that for you! You will be randomly assigned to share a room with a fellow admitted student of the same gender. Each room has two beds and one bathroom. You will be given your roommate’s name in advance, and you will both be able to check-in separately. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and check-out is promptly at noon. Hyatt Place is located at 219 West Beaver Avenue in downtown State College, approximately 10 minutes from the School of International Affairs. Public transportation is available, and metered parking is available at the Lewis Katz Building for $1 per hour until 5:00 p.m.

Travel and Reimbursement

To make visiting us more affordable, SIA will provide a complimentary hotel room (as long as you register by the deadline) for the nights of Sunday, April 7th and Monday, April 8th. In addition, SIA will provide all meals on Monday and there will be breakfast available at the hotel. Finally, you will receive up to $200.00 for travel costs you incur for your travel to the Open House. Please note that receipts must be provided for reimbursement, so please be sure to save all receipts. You will complete paperwork during the Open House for your reimbursement to be processed. You can expect to receive your reimbursement 4-6 weeks after the Open House.

Because you will be doing a fair amount of walking on Monday, we suggest smart casual attire. Comfortable walking shoes will be important. Dinner attire on Monday night is business professional. Please be sure to keep the local weather in mind.

Visit the event page for a complete agenda, and don't forget to register online!
